Development of green infrastructure, including green roofs and living walls, is crucial for adapting cities to climate change. Since European citizens become more and more vulnerable to its negative impacts, it is important that local authorities not only set up green roofs  on their own buildings and facilities but also encourage citizens and local stakeholders to do the same. Achieving significant growth of green roof surface is easier with a comprehensive strategy, like the one  elaborated and implemented by the city of Hamburg. It will serve as a model and a starting point for the development of 8 Polish pilot strategy, as well as the universal strategy template that could be used also by other Polish (and European) cities and municipalities.
